De Rosa - Mend

I don't know much about De Rosa except that they're originally from Bellshill (Hometown to Teenage Fanclub, half of Mogwai and, er, The Soup Dragons, as well as being the birthplace of Ally McCoist, Sheena Easton, John Reid [spit], Robin Cook and John McCusker) and that they had one of the best tracks on the Ballads Of The Book compilation that I posted at the start of this blog.

Erlend Øye - Unrest

King Of Convenience's Jarvis-Cocker-alike travels around Europe (And North America) recording a song each with a selection of producers. It's a bit like Kings of Convenience go Pet Shop Boys. Which is a good thing. I'd pick Prego Amore as the stand out track but I've been wrong before.

Ghost Trains (produced by Morgan Geist)
Sheltered Life (produced by Soviet)

Slint - Spiderland

I spend ages recently trying to get a download for this since I read it was one of the most influential post-rock (Whatever that means) albums of the last 20 years. Since I went through all that trouble to find it I thought I'd share it here. Enjoy.

Wendy James - Now Ain't The Time For Your Tears

I don't know why. Just because. It is admittedly 14 years since I last listened to this all the way through and it might not sound as good as I remember it but Elvis Costello wrote this for her so maybe that'll be an incentive for some of you to grab a copy. It's really a lot better than you'd think.

The Postal Service - Give Up

Wherein Jimmy Timborello from Dntel teams up with Ben Gibbard from Death Cab For Cutie and makes a really good electro album. Jenny Lewis crops up on this too because the glamorous world of American indie rock is quite a small world.
